nothing expands your mind as much as writing. when putting your thoughts on paper, you are forced to recalibrate your messy subconscious pathways into logical, conscious expressions. every great man wrote: philosophers, emperors, artists, generals. napoleon wrote an entire romance novella before conquering europe. you don’t need to be a writer. you just need a blank page, a head full of thoughts, and the patience to structure the chaos.

everybody wants to "find a purpose". nobody reads what the greatest minds of history had to say about this process. read: plato's myth of er, the apology of socrates, hillman's the soul's code or jung's red book. easily the 4 best texts ever written on the subject.

"solve et coagula" is one of the oldest instructions in alchemy, yet most people don't know what it asks of you. dissolve. then coagulate. you have to burn down who you are in order to rise into something larger.

every great man in history believed something larger-than-life was guiding him. alexander the great crossed the libyan desert to siwa to consult the oracle on the matter. once he came out, he claimed to be the son of zeus. caesar believed his bloodline went back to the goddess venus and made her name his army's battle cry. napoleon spoke of his star all the time and, as he said, he felt "driven towards an end he did not know". this invisible force has a name: the daimon.

daimon-maxxing is very simple. it's just finding out what drove you in your childhood years, spending long hours in contemplation and pouring ENORMOUS trust into this larger-than-life guiding voice that speaks there.

in the mainstream understanding, the sphinx had 3 powers: to know, to will, to dare. but if you read carefully, he had the 4th, hidden power that made him above any man who stood before him: to keep silent.

most of your fears look so big because you only ever see them over your shoulder. what you run away from, chases you. turn around, face it, and it won't appear so big anymore. the ONLY way to kill fear is to face it directly.

at his ancient school in croton, pythagoras made his students follow a nightly ritual to remember everything they learned and consolidate it during sleep. today it's known as the pythagorean sandwich. top: before sleep, go over everything you learned that day. middle: sleep. your subconscious keeps replaying the information you worked on last during the day. bottom: upon waking, before you get out of bed, recall it all again from memory.

I BEG YOU: stop telling people about your goals. the gollwitzer effect is very real. there is something about announcing a goal that tricks your mind into feeling it's already done. the praise arrives early. the hunger leaves with it. always speak through results, never through plans.
