The Eigen Cloud ambassador program - we ran the pilot invitation only. Interviewed the people already contributing to the vision, started with 18 creators, and collected over 100 pieces of feedback in the first three months. We didn’t design the program and then invite people. We listened first and built the culture, process, and value add around what they actually needed.

Wow @token2049 was epic for us @CoUnity_ this year! From the c-suite convos, deals moving, results driving our reputation, it's all compounding! 🚀 Stoked to meet @tnolin IRL after working together for a year. 🤝 Super blessed to end the conference with F1 hospitality 🤘

Membership. Influence. Needs met. Connection. These four psychological conditions have to be present before a group feels like a community instead of an audience. The more you nail them, the stronger the gravity. Sense of Community theory by McMillan & Chavis.

Not everyone shows up for the same reason. Richard Bartle’s four types, reimagined as Achievers, Explorers, Competitors and Socializers, sit on a spectrum. Some want to win, whether it’s Mario Kart or the football pitch. Others just want the chat, the daily GM, the “how’s it going?” They host, they connect, they keep the room warm. A community that only feeds one of them gets thin. The interesting ones hold all four.

Community isn’t just the people you sell to. It’s the cheapest way to test ideas. Skip the abstract “market.” Go to the people who already engage with what you build. They give you the feedback without the cost. @AlbertoOnChain with his take on what a community should be.

I did 39 hours of travel door to door, from the Kootenays in BC to Shibuya, Tokyo....And somehow don't feel any jet-lag, locked and loaded, and overly caffeinated with amazing coffee! 🔥

when members don't have access to information about a project/company... they start manufacturing information that may not be accurate and they are also susceptible to false info from bad actors. a well layed out information resource and active support systems in the community will always help prevent that type of negative exposure.

This is the support loop framework. Community answers the questions, builds the knowledge base, and only escalates what actually needs an engineer - instead of tickets, rage posts, and a tagged company. @thedanrodman on the Co/mmunity Frameworks episode. Link in comments.
