Most "Mac" code editors aren't Mac apps. They're Chrome windows in a trench coat. Nearly every popular editor ships cross-platform first — Electron under the hood, macOS an afterthought. Fine for shipping fast. Not fine for your RAM, your battery, or how the app feels. In 2022, designer Austin Condiff asked: what would a code editor look like if it were built for macOS and nothing else? @CodeEditApp is the community's answer. 23,000 GitHub stars. 1,100+ forks. MIT licensed. Free forever — built entirely by volunteers. CodeEdit is a code editor written completely in Swift and SwiftUI — native from the first line, no web stack anywhere. In the next version of CodeEdit... Editors reflect external file changes! If your file is modified by another program on your machine, CodeEdit will intelligently reload any open editors to show you the most up-to-date version of that file.
As always, these options are completely customizable. You can replace the character rendered for each invisible character, and add or remove what characters codes you are warned about. You can also disable each setting entirely!
In the next version of CodeEdit... Invisible characters and warning characters! Invisible characters render whitespace in your editor, including tabs, spaces, newlines and more. Warning characters warn of potentially dangerous characters like the zero-width space.
We have very early LSP support. It’s next up on our roadmap and we have open pull requests implementing autocomplete and have implemented syntax highlighting and document sync with the server. Still to go is better server management and installation methods as well as more concrete features like snippets, refactoring, and workspace features
In the next version of CodeEdit... CodeEdit remembers your cursors, undo stack, selections, and file positions when switching editors, even across sessions. Close your workspace and pick up exactly where you left off next time.

@madeby_ldt Not a clone! Xcode is limited to Swift/C/ObjC. CodeEdit is a general purpose editor, bring whatever language and customizations you want. We are sticking to macOS design principles so we do end up looking like Xcode in a lot of ways.
