You get SSH access to a Linux server you've never seen before. No documentation. No idea what's running on it. What's the first thing you check? Not looking for the 'correct' answer. I'm interested in the order other people poke around.
I've always replied to everyone who takes the time to reply to my posts. Lately I've had to settle for just liking some because there were too many. Today I can't even keep up with that. Kinda sad about it TBH. Feels like I've broken a streak I was proud of. First world problems aye? 😂
Ever clicked an anchor link and had the page scroll the heading neatly behind your sticky header? 😂 `scroll-margin-top` is the little CSS fix worth remembering. The browser went to the right place. Your header was just sitting on top of it.

Apache serving the wrong site? Before you start pulling apart perfectly innocent PHP, try: `apachectl -S` It shows how Apache parsed your virtual hosts, including the default. On Windows it's `httpd.exe -S`. Sometimes PHP did nothing wrong 😂
Business software starts with a nice simple `active = true/false`. Then the real statuses turn out to be: Active Inactive Suspended Archived Pending 'Phone him first' Good luck with that boolean 😂

@Pps831 I'm all for using AI, but installing an agent with shell access on a server I know absolutely nothing about seems like a pretty good reason to run a few commands myself first 😂

@prjctimg Yep 😂 top is always a good early stop. Nothing like logging into an unfamiliar server and finding something chewing through 98% of the CPU before you've even worked out what the machine is supposed to be doing🤣
MySQL lets you make a secondary index invisible to the optimiser without actually dropping it. Handy for checking whether queries still need it. Just remember the index is still maintained on writes, so it won't tell you what you'd save there.
